Gabe Marshall is a New York-based percussionist, specializing in the drum set. He’s also currently working as a music educator for the NYC Department of Education.
Most recently, he has been focusing on furthering his education. After attending the Drummers Collective for two years, Gabe decided to pursue a masters degree in jazz drum set performance at the Aaron Copland School of Music, Queens College. This degree was conferred in May 2017.
He graduated with his second masters (Masters of Music Education) from Teachers College, Columbia University in May 2019. Shortly after his Teachers College masters conferral, he received his NYSED Initial Certification in K-12 Music Education.
While working toward his masters degrees, Gabe has continued his performance career, sharing the stage with acts like The Dan Band (as seen in the movies Old School, The Hangover, and Starsky and Hutch), Aurelien Budynek (Marky Ramone’s Blitzkrieg, Cindy Blackman), and various freelance acts.
Gabe spent years recording and performing with the original project, Chameleon. Founded by vocalists Chloe Lowery and Andrew Ross (both feature vocalists for the Trans-Siberian Orchestra), Chameleon played SXSW, opened for platinum-selling artists, was selected as a featured artist on several media sites like Reverb Nation, and frequently played their local scene of NYC. They gained a large and devout following, which has continued to listen and support the band. Chameleon disbanded in 2017
Prior to joining Chameleon, Gabe worked with the progressive metal band Suspyre (Sensory Records; Nightmare Records), where he performed at festivals such as ProgPower USA X and opened for headlining acts such as Shadow Gallery and Primal Fear.
Gabe has also worked with Jason Yudoff and the New Hotness - including solo percussion gigs with just Jason Yudoff - as well as a number of other original projects, cover bands, party bands, and percussion gigs as a freelance artist.
Before moving to New York, Gabe marched snare drum with the 2004 Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps.
Prior to becoming an educator through the NYC public school system, Gabe taught classes at the continuing education department of Hunter College. He also works privately with students.
